Causes and Explanation of Hair Loss |

Some
hair loss is natural. Hair follows a genetic program that
includes growth, dormancy and shedding. An average of 100 hairs are lost
daily
but most regrow because the follicle remains. When loss exceeds
growth, baldness occurs.
|
| In most patients, hair loss is
inherited from their parents. These hair
loss genes make certain hair follicles sensitive to the hormone
dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which inhibits follicle growth. |
 |
|
70% of men
and 50% of women experience some sort of hair loss in a lifetime.
Androgenic pattern
baldness is a continuous disorder that causes men and some
women, to lose hair over the front, top and crown of the head.
As every hair on the head is genetically
programmed before birth either to be sensitive to the Androgenic
hormone DHT, or become
permanent lifelong hair, not affected by the normal hormones.
The Androgenic hormone appears after puberty causing these sensitive
follicles to shrivel - the effect is first noticed as thinning
hair which gets thinner and shorter. Eventually, the
hair follicle dies and permanent baldness occurs. |

All
is not lost !
|
 |
- Permanent lifetime hairs are
found in abundant supply in virtually all men and women. They are
located on the sides and back of the head donor
area.
- Hair transplantation uses some
of the permanent hairs from these areas and relocates them
to areas of thinning and balding on the front and top of the
head.
- The transplanted hair retains
its genetic properties and grows as it did in its original
location for life. Hair transplantation is the only
permanent, natural way to correct hair loss using one's own
hair.
